My wife and I moved to Houston over ten years ago, when I got out of the Navy.
Since then, all three of our kids have been born and raised in Houston.
I got into this race because I’m troubled by the direction of our great city.
I grew up in the Western New York area, which has serious economic problems because they’ve allowed debt and taxes to get out of control.
Many businesses have left upstate New York and a lot of people I know, including all my brothers and sisters, and many cousins, have left in search of better opportunities.
That’s not the kind of place where I my kids to grow up.
My wife and I chose Houston over a decade ago because the city seemed to afford limitless opportunity. And I still believe that’s true.
But it won’t be true for much longer if we don’t reign in the fiscal issues facing our city:
- I will work to balance the city’s budget and pay down debt so that our city doesn’t have to raise taxes just to pay debt service, like Chicago just did.
- I will make sure ReBuild Houston funds are spent for their originally intended purpose – to fix streets and drainage – so that our infrastructure doesn’t continue to crumble.
- I will work to find a settlement to the city’s pension crisis, so that we don’t end up like Detroit – and also so that police, fireman, and city workers are willing to continue to serve our great city.
I believe the most important issues facing our city are fiscal issues.
However, given the recent focus on Houston’s so-called HERO ordinance, many people have asked about my position on this important issue.
To address the HERO ordinance issue, I created a video series…
- Video #1: Was My Family Discriminated Against?
- Video #2: Why Are People Afraid to Criticize HERO?
- Video #3: Are HERO Proponents Discriminatory?
I’ve been active in the civic and political life of Houston for nearly a decade:

- Currently I’m a Precinct Chairman in the Harris County Republican Party
- I’m an active member of the Houston Young Republicans
- I speak in Houston and around Texas to civic and political groups about the vital importance of American constitutional history
